Gift Tree Calendar / Good Deed Tree / Resolution Tree

GIFT TREE CALENDAR
This calendar is perfect for little brothers or sisters aged 2-4, like Doodles here. Small gifts to unwrap each day help while away the days. Just make sure they do open only one treat each time!

    You Will Need:
  1. Green, red and yellow felt fabric or paper.
You can also combine any of your favorite colors.
  2. Needle (Be careful.)
  3. Yarn or any thick thread
  4. 24 small gifts. You can put candies, individually
wrapped cookies, pencils or tiny toys.
  5. Glue
  6. Pair of kiddie scissors
  7. Sequins, buttons, glitter, cut outs, etc.
  8. A ring or loop for hanging
    To make:
  1. Cut the outline of a Christmas tree out of the green felt.
    Recommended tree height is 12".
  2. From the yellow felt paper, cut out 24 squares or stars
    or any shape you wish.
  3. Decorate these shapes with cut out numbers from the red
felt. You can also write the numbers with colorful
    markers.
  4. Using a pencil, mark your tree with 24 circles, these
should be smaller than the numbered shapes. You can ask
a grown-up to help you cut out these holes.
  5. Thread a length of yarn with your needle through each of
the numbered shapes. Secure the ends.
  6. Position these numbered shapes on your tree.
  7. Turn the tree around and secure your little gifts to the
other ends of the thread. Glue the ring or loop at the top
of the tree so it can be hung. Now your tree is ready! Pull
out a surprise each day so that the present drops down to
    be claimed.

GOOD DEED TREE
This is the perfect tree for the whole family. Gather everyone around and have little strips of paper ready. Ask them to list down ways on how they can help somebody in this season of giving. Mom and dad might want to give food to streetchildren or even invite a lonely neighbor for Christmas eve dinner! The possibilities are endless! Roll up these pieces of paper and tie them to the threads, instead of the little gifts. Follow steps 1-6 of the Gift Tree Calendar.

RESOLUTION TREE
This tree is good for helping little kids keep track of our resolutions. List down 15 resolutions you hope to keep for the new year. Study harder, make more friends, speak up, learn to play drums, etc. Write these down on little pieces of paper. Roll these up and tie to the ends of the threads. Follow the same steps as 1-6 of the Gift Tree Calendar, BUT instead of the dates 1-24, use the dates 16-31. Everyday, starting December 16th, pull out a shape and reread your resolution. After reading, you can put these rolled up pieces on a special bowl marked "stuff to keep the whole year" or tack them to your wall!
