Real Spirit of Christmas
Christmas time is a wonderful feast.
A sight to behold at the very least
Native parols made of shell and bamboo
Twinkling with lights that call out to you
Angels, toy soldiers, robots and dolls
Yellow and white gold ribbons and balls
Flowers and bows, pine trees and wreaths,
Prayers and songs, storiesand myths
Reindeer and elves, glass, silk and paper
The three Kings, the cradle, our Holy Savior
Red and green boxes. striped candy canes
Cookies and fruitcake and cool electric trains
Saints and harps and porcelain stars
Santa and snow and mint chocolate bars
Christmas is not just giving nor receiving--
It is love and peace and hoping and believing,
In God and ourselves, in truth and wisdom
and the goodness of man in this earthly kingdom. |
