The Crying Trees

Tree Land is a happy place where the birds sing and the waterfalls and streams giggle and where Great Grandfather Tree, the oldest of the trees reigns. Their happy life is shattered when men with sharp axes invade the forest. Great Grandfather Tree commands all the trees, big and small, to flee to the great mountain Apo. The trees listen in sorrow as they hear theloggers chop at Great Grandfather Tree. They cry at his pain and sob when he is finally felled. To this day the trees weep and their tears are called latex. Ang Kageban (Festival of the Forest)
