The Chinese New Year has gone ahead of this month's issue. But, as it is celebrated over fifteen days, we can not only celebrate the new year but also our Chinese heritage and culture in this issue. "New Year Dawning by Debbie Ann Tan is a poem that is filled with images of a Chinese New Year celebration. Her story, "One New Year Tradition" is about understanding and sharing different cultures. "Lion Dancer" is also about celebrating the new year in the midst of friendship, determination and acceptance. Twin to this story is Frances Ong's article on "Learning the Lion Dance". This issue on Chinese New Year would not be complete without an article on this most important of holidays and the place where it is held here, Binondo.
