A
long, long time ago, there were
three girls, Ida, Emi and Via,
who were always helping those
in need. The Rain God noticed
this and decided to reward them.
He told them to reach out their
hands with open palms and catch
the first few drops of rain.
The three were amazed at what
happened! Every drop of rain
they caught turned into little
gold nuggets. But it happens
only for a moment so the three
girls had to be very alert when
it is about to rain.
Ida, Emi and Via became very
rich in no time but they were
not satisfied with their fortune.
They forgot about helping people
in need and just waited for
the rain clouds to appear. Each
wanted to be the richest in
the world.
One day, they all went out
and partied all night long.
They were so tired and so sleepy
that they did not notice the
sky getting dark. The rain poured
while Ida and Emi slept. Only
Via was able to catch the golden
rain. The two found out about
this and thought that Via had
put some sleeping pills in their
tea. This made her furious.
"Don't blame me because you
overslept!" she fumed.
"And to think that we're all
in this together! How could
you?!" Emi cried.
The three girls were arguing
so loud that they did not notice
that all the neighbors were
listening to their fight. Each
one was in a buzz about the
golden rain, and each one hoped
to catch a few gold nuggets.
"Look what you did! You let
the cat out of the bag! Now
they too will catch the golden
rain and none will be left for
us!"
After
hearing this, the Rain God suddenly
appeared and he was very angry.
"From now on, no one will
ever catch the golden rain!"
he boomed. "Not until everyone
knows how to be kind and helpful
to others! Pointing to the girls,
he roared, "I gave them the
secret of the golden rain so
that they could help others,
but they let greed enter their
hearts! Because of that, I will
turn all their gold into water
again!"
POOF! All of the three girls'
belongings turned into water
and flooded the village. The
Rain God slowly vanished. "Care
enough to help others and don't
let greed enter your hearts
again! Only then will I let
the golden rain fall."
So to this day, whenever it
starts to rain, people remember
the story of the Rain God and
reach out their hands with open
palms to try and catch the golden
rain. Better be as helpful as
you can and you may just catch
some!
