EARTHQUAKE
By: Ime DM Aznar

Sometimes my lola lets me sleep beside her.
She tells me mermaid stories, sings her old songs for me.
I like her antique wooden bed, all creaky and shaky
Her feather pillows, her warm blanket and big canopy.

One night a fierce mosquito sneaked into the room
And bit my left foot while I was sleeping.
It itched, and I scratched and rubbed the skin sore
Against the blankets, I couldn't sleep anymore!

I tossed and I turned, and the bed shook and creaked
Then lola suddenly sat up, she was wide-awake.
She made the sign of the cross and almost did shriek
Poor lola, she thought it was an earthquake!
