Saud - A Place to Enjoy In
By: Kasey Albano

Many waters and oceans surround our country. These include the South China Sea in the west, the Pacific Ocean in the north. That's why we have a lot of beaches and most of them are resorts and tourist spots.

I have been to some beaches here in the Philippines: Nasugbu in Batangas, Puerto Azul in Cavite, and several beaches in Ilocos Norte (Saud in Pagudpud, Caroan in Pasuquin, and Natba in Bacarra). My favorite among these is Saud. I'll tell you why.

I always have fun in Saud. Maybe it is because of its white sand, or maybe the bluue waves that crash between your feet when it is a high tide. Maybe because of its beautiful sights. Or maybe because you'll never know what will happen with the waves.

I once had a large collection of shells and large rocks from Saud and it is because the waves wash up chunks of rocks or shells on the shore. Some chunks of corals also come by. That's a big help and tons of fun for shell collectors. Sometimes they make long, rising waves, perfect for surfing and swimming. On calm, sunny days, they simply look like a big piece of blue cloth lying on the land, but hey, watch out!! They can also be very fierce during the rainy season, but it is fun to stand on the sand to wait for the big waves to crash on your whole body. Once, my family, my cousins and I went there. The sea was in a high tide situation and it began to rain really hard. The current of the waves were so strong and they were so tall that they even washed up fish like swordfish on the shore, and water even reached some coconut trees' roots, and the trees were about seven feet away from the seawater.

Anyway, Saud has a very pleasing sight to an artists' eye. This beach serves as an inspiration to painters (I saw a painting of Saud somewhere) and directors and producers to shoot or film their movies.

The beach is very beautiful. Tall coconut trees surround the place while white sand is all over. The seawater is clear and calm, with shades of azure, cerulean, cobalt, navy, sapphire or indigo. Shells that wash up on the shore are usually brown, pale or pink (some have strange colors for shells like purple and periwinkle) and they have very interesting and elaborate designs. The sky is very blue, and cumulus, cirrus and stratus clouds often appear. Nimbus clouds appear occasionally. Birds, like seagulls or any of the sort fly overhead. Watching them fly in many different kinds of bird formations are fun, but you should be careful from the stuff flying and dropping from them, okay (yuck)?

In conclusion, Saud is a place for anybody. It has fun water activities to do for those who are sports-minded, relaxing sights for artists, or simply a beach for those who love to enjoy.
