"Lito's Lantern" by ROB C. RUBINA, JR.   Illustrated by JO ANN BEREBER

Lito walking home"But ma'am, who can possibly compete with Andy's lantern?" said one of the boys. "Dennis, all of the lanterns will be used to decorate the church. Whether yours wins or not, it will hung in our church. Take this opportunity to be creative. And again, remember, the winning lantern will light up the manger. Now, open your history books to page 358..." Now what am I going to do? I don't have the money to buy materials for this project, thought Lito to himself as he walked home from school. I can't ask Itay to help me with this. He seldom comes home early as he has to do extra work to earn money for the family. Inay needs the extra money for the twin's milk and clothes.

Lito thought about his Christmas project all the way home. As soon as he got there, he changed clothes and helped his mother with the household chores.
